Several dozen GAHS members and quests boarded a deluxe motor coach for a pleasant Sommerfest trip back in time to historic 19th century Kimmswick, Missouri.

First stop was a one hour walking tour of the restored village’s quaint gift and antique shops.  At 12:30pm, the group gathered in front of the historic Blue Owl Restaurant & Bakery to hear the owner tell the charming and successful history of the town and her establishment.  Next, was a spectacular  hour and a half luncheon of assorted comfort food dishes and just-baked desserts that lived up to the Blue Owl’s reputation.

Afterwards, everyone re-boarded the bus for a short trip down the road to the ancestral home of Fred and Mabel Ruth Anheuser, affectionately known to many as Fredmar Farms. The Anheuser collection includes family heirlooms, antiques, portraits, and a family library. Accenting the collection are Mrs. Anheuser's Westward Ho Crystal collection, a pair of 1904 hand-carved World's Fair beds, and an original "Feasting Fox" perched on the bluffs overlooking the mighty Mississippi.
